armasuisse – pure enthusiasm, repeatedly

Roughly one thousand persons work for armasuisse, almost all of which are "brainworkers" with little to no physical activity at work.
Two step-counting events brought about the necessary motivation to rediscover the simplest of all physical activities: walking.

Climbing Mt. Everest…
The goal was simple: To motivate staff who spend most of their working days sitting to start moving again. «Expedition Everbest» set the right scenario. Over a period of 40 days, armasuisse staff counted their steps, captured them daily in a personalized online account and thus virtually climbed from base camp to base camp, their goal being the peak of majestic Mt. Everest. Some of these climbers got beset by an actual high-altitude euphoria: they increased their daily steps by 200 percent and more!

…and across the Sahara desert
Enthused by the very positive feedbacks and the amazing results of the first event, armasuisse held a second step-counting event in 2011. This time, their staff had to walk across the Sahara desert. In the «Sahara Challenge», participants not only walk across the largest dry desert on earth, but also have to solve riddles on their way. And in this second event, too, competition was tough: almost half of all participants after 40 days and roughly 280'00 steps reached their final goal: the pyramids of Gizeh.
